I am retired and was happy when my daughter called asking me to help her with a Hackintosh so that she can return to grad school for her Masters in Nursing.

She had my old G4 desktop, which recently died (power supply is DEAD). I looked into a replacement PSU but $175 seems too much to invest in an ancient machine. She still has a working 21" Apple Display. She would like lots of storage and will probably be doing mostly web research, emails, wordprocessing, and I suspect an occasional presentation.

Question #1 - Is a Sandybridge CPU adequate or is an Ivybridge the better investment long term?

Question #2 - Where word processing and storage are major purposes, are the onboard graphics sufficient or which graphics board does she need (she has two boys 1 1/2 and 3 who will want to use it too)?

Question #3 - Is $750 enough to build this machine?

I'm running the H77 WIFI with no graphics card and the i3 3225, as per the mini guide here on the forum. Works very well and would be more than sufficient for college use.
