benefit of 1.8 upgrade? noob question

so i have a gigabyte 6850 card in my box.... i see 1.8 has definitions for the amd 6850. by upgrading to 1.8, does this give me any more performance? what is the benefit of the upgrade?

If your system works right now, the only major improvement is the ability to boot the new developer preview of 10.8
The bootloader code for video cards is just for activation, the system drivers control the performance.
So no, there will be no change in graphics performance due to chimera.

hey thanks for answering. so chimera passes the low level memory addresses to the OS so it can apply the drivers etc...
