Has anyone been successful in connecting these? My Bluetooth will connect for a few seconds but won't hold it.

Using IOGEAR Bluetooth 4.0 USB Micro Adapter

My Solo 3 is working without any problem. Even I can make a phone call. But I am not using the dongle. I am using WIFI/Bluetooth combo card.

As I remember you must add your product vendor and product ID to info.plist. for fully compatibility just make a search I remember there is a thread for IOGEAR Bluetooth.

I couldn't find anything that talked about that but added some kexts and moved it to one of the 2.0 ports and it seems to work fine now.
