My current hackintosh is a Dell Latitude 7400 dual boot Windows 11 & Ventura, I came across another 7400 going cheap so I bought it to sell on for profit.
I noticed that the 'new' 7400 would max out with an estimated battery time of 1day 5 hours in windows (reduced brightness, battery saver on etc)
My dual boot 7400 would only max out at about 20hrs estimated battery in windows. (both very similar batteries, around 52,000 mWh current capacity of 60,002 original capacity)
So in windows this gives the 'new' 7400 an increased estimated battery time of 45%.
I swapped out out the SSD of the 'new' 7400 into my dual boot 7400 and sure enough the estimated battery time increased by about 45%!
So I guess my question is -
What is it about the two drives that gives such a large difference in estimated battery time?
Is it purely normal hardware difference?
Does my dual boot drive have a hardware issue? (I haven't had time to check other drives yet)
Is it the Windows install that is effecting the power usage - They are both fairly fresh install of windows so I suspect it is hardware related rather than software.
Is there software than can measure the power used by SSD?
How do I buy a larger SSD for my dual boot that uses as little power!?
