basic questions

Hi All

Ive been reading the forums for a week or tow and finally got my USB unibeast working .. im on a hp 4350s . i have one 600GB partition split into:

c: 286GB
e: hp recovery 18GB
f: Hptools 5GB
M:media 50GB
System 300MB
W: Work 100GB

and i have a 140GB unallocated area that i was going to install ML lion (ive also tried making this a partition):

I can boot into the installer and then when i goto disk utility i get something like:

disk 1 : 300MB
disk 2: 5Gb
disk 3 : 300GB
disk4: 300GB

Whats going on here? Why doesnt it see the partitions and how do i make it so that i can install on the unallocated 150GB partition?

If i use the dos windows disk utility it says one volume of 600GB, why does the mountian lion installer see two 300GB disks and why doesnt it see my partitions?

Also im confused on the whole guid /MBR thing i have read both that it must be GUID and that ML is fine on MBR .. can anyone clarify any of these points, please?

You didn't really mention that you have two hard drives. Confused...
