Hi,

as I am building a new Hackintosh, I moved to the Buyer's Guide. I want to build a system with 32GB and noticed, that the Buyer's Guide recommends Ballistix Sport LT BLS2K16G4D240FSC (2400 MT/s, PC4-19200, CL16). However the Ballistix Sport LT BLS2K16G4D30AESC (3000 MT/s, PC4-24000, CL15) is almost a quarter cheaper in my country. My questions are: (1) Why is the BLS2K16G4D30AESC cheaper? Aren't 3000 MT/s and CL15 faster than 2400 MT/s and CL16? And: (2) Does it make any difference other than speed which one I use (Is the BLS2K16G4D30AESC still a good option for building a Hackintosh)?

Thanks!

I noticed this also here in Norway. This has to do with market availability. 2666Mhz and below are not in demand like the newer speeds. Just think what you have to pay for 800Mhz RAM for an old iMac! I read that we will see a real drop in RAM and SSD prices from this summer. Too bad I stocked up on a good deal on some 2666Mhz RAM a few months ago. Now retail prices on 3000Mhz RAM is lower than what I paid for the slower ones on super sale :(

Apart from that 3000Mhz I read is the sweet spot now price/performance. I don't think you will see the difference in Geekbench but obviously 10% increase in Mhz will somewhere (I don't know where) add some speed.
