After I moved some crap around, I lost audio and I have tried using MultiBeast to get Audio back, but no matter what I do, I never see any devices in the System Preferences > Sound > Output area.

A few more details are needed. What version of OS X are you running and what version of MultiBeast?

And you should have a clone backup to load.

Good modding,

Thanks Niel.

OSX 10.9
MultiBeast - Mavericks 6.0.1

Unfortunately I don't have a clone backup :)

I think this is more of a deep mac issue than anything. I am 100% confident that If I installed from scratch it would be working. I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas to reset the Mac OS X audio portion to scratch or something without reinstalling.

My system that I am on is very similar to yours.

Z77X-UP5TH i7-4770K 16GB DDR3 1600MHz with HD 6870.

Anyway, I recommend that you go into your /System/Library/Extensions and delete the AppleHDA.kext and the HDAEnabler1.kext and any VoodooHDA kexts.

Then run MulitBeast 6.0.1 and reinstall the audio. You want to use AppleHDA.kext 2.5.2-toledaALC898 and the HDAEnabler1.kext v 1.0.0d1 (as seen by Finder Get Info function).

Good modding,

I can't get back to my hackintosh until monday, but I logged in remotely via SSH and took care of the kexts. I'll try to reinstall using Multibeast 6.0.1

Code:
find /System/Library/Extensions -maxdepth 1 -iname 'hda*enab*.kext' -o -iname '*voodoo*hda*.kext' -o -iname 'applehda*.kext' -exec rm -rf {} \;

I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks for the tip.

Morning Neil,

I made it to work this morning to test my Hackintosh and it still isn't working. My profile was misleading... I have 3 hackintoshes in total. The one with this funky audio problem has the following specs:

GIGABYTE GA-Z77N-WIFI + i7-3770K + CORSAIR Vengeance LP 16GB (2 x 8GB)

I attempted to remove all of those kexts like you suggested and then I ran the following in Multibeast 6.0.1: http://cloud.ja.sonbarnett.com/image/3I1R431b3R3t/o

Let me know if you have any additional tips or hints. Just to remind you, this was working perfectly up until 10.8.5/10.9. I'm currently running 10.9.
