Audio People: SL vs. Lion & Z68 vs. Z77 for a DAW?

Are there any threads describing compatibility issues running Logic Studio 9.1.5 and PT9 under 10.6 or 10.7?
The community is in this hardware transition right now, and I thought I was going for a Gigabyte Z68/Sandy i7 system, but I'm finding mostly open boxes and "out of stock", so I'm wondering if plugins will run/crash or KPs will occur on an Ivy i7/Z77 system running Lion. And this may sound noobish, but can I put a sandy 2600k into a Z77 board and run SL if I must buy a Z77? Any input is greatly appreciated.

I'm not able to help you with the Pro Tools question, since I don't use it. But you better off to not mix the 7th series motherboards with the 6th series CPUs.

...don't know about PT but Logic 9.1.7 is running smooth & stable on my rig GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3 + i7-2700K + G.Skill RipjawsX F3-10666CL9Q-32GBXL 4x8GB
on both 10.6.8 and 10.7.4
