Audio Not Working - Lion, Gigabyte mobo, GeForce GTX 460

CPU: Intel Core i7
Graphics: GeForce GTX 460

This doesn't actually FREEZE when I'm booting into OSX Lion, but this is the error I get:

This is the weirdism:
- I do not have audio working, so I'm guessing that's what the sound assertion errors are. Any ideas how to fix?
- The booting doesn't actually FREEZE until I install my graphics card into the motherboard. I have no idea why this is.

Any guidance/hints would seriously be helpful! I am a total noob at this stuff so thank you in advance!!

I have been using ALC 889.

None of these methods have worked so far... any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
