I've run MultiBeast 3.72 to fix my sound to no avail.

No doubt I'm just spaced out of my mind (I've been studying for the CPA Exam)

The 10.6.8 update kills 889a codec audio :X

I was using VoodooHDA on 10.6.7, which broke after update to 10.6.8. Booted in safe mode (-x), removed VoodooHDA from S/L/E, ran Multibeast and installed ALC8XX, AppleHDA rollback, and System Utilities to update cache. Works fine now, at least on my box.

Indeed... Because 889a didn't require an HDA rollback...

I'm sure MacMan will soon release an updated ALC8xx which takes care of this...

New multibeast fixed my issue v3.7.3.

I just had to select rollback

Could someone upload the good old AppleHDA.kext please, or tell me where to download it from?

Thank you

Edit: I have the ALC888

I started all over with my backup of 10.6.7.
I put a copy of the working AppleHDA.kext on my desktop.
Software updated to 10.6.8.
Went to S/L/E and threw new AppleHDA.kext in trash.
Used Kext Beast to install the working AppleHDA.kext from my desktop and....TaDA!!
