Got my HIS 5670 working tonight - wouldn't say it was hassle free. Card was not recognized after 10.6.3 install (booted at 1024x768), and after 10.6.5 update I could boot into OS but screen was different colors. Took drive out, connected it to another computer and finished this installation:

After completing installation, put drive back in original computer and booted to OS without issues. Might have been the addition of com.apple.boot.plist that fixed it...

I have HD5670 512MB running on 10.6.4.. i have been trying to get full resolution but I always get 786x1024 or so (installed some kexts from Nektas)
I think I just need to find the right Framebuffer
The HD5670 1024MB also has been posted to work fine with 10.6.5
