Installation Notes

1. Create an USB installation stick according to this guide: http://www.tonymacx86.com/374-unibeast-install-os-x-mavericks-any-supported-intel-based-pc.html

2. The V2 cpu are not supported by the standard kernel, so need to replace the /mach_kernel on the USB stick with the following custom kernel: http://www.osx86.net/files/download/3563-109-gm-ivy-bridge-e-kernel/

3. Install OSX following: http://www.tonymacx86.com/374-unibeast-install-os-x-mavericks-any-supported-intel-based-pc.html

4. Replace the kernel on the target drive with the kernel from the USB stick. Needs to be done in the terminal just after the installation finishes before loading into new install.

5. Load the new install. Run MultiBeast -> EasyBeast.
My settings are:
- 3rd Party SATA
- FakeSMC (latest)
- FakeSMC plugins + HWmonitor (you can avoid it).
- Intel Ethernet
- SmBios = MacPro 3,1

Asus z9pe - dual xeon V2 / OSX 10.9

Bad news. Just updated bios to 5103 and can not load OSX with GTX 760 - stuck on 'PCI configuration begin' no matter what. Integrated graphics works.
Tried:
1. Kernel parameters:
npci=0x2000
npci=0x3000
PCIRootUID=0
PCIRootUID=1

2.Kexts
AppleACPIPlatform + IOPCIFamily does not work for me, freezes after PCI configuration

Any suggestions are welcome.

Sorry, I have a very similar config (only one Xeon V5 v2) and I can't to complete install. In fact. I have never seen the initial setup page of the mavericks install (only reboots, or freezes on the apple logo).

Can you say more about your setup:
-bios version
-bios parameters changed
-boot parameters (dart, cpuid, etc...)

Another doubt. The kernel supporting E5v2, is needet to 'insert' in the Unibeast USB installation?

thanks.

A bit of an update. I've got it working again with BIOS 5103.

I installed _plain_ Maverics then run Multibeast on it, got usual suspects (3PartySata, Intel lan etc) and that's it. Nothing else, it works with kernel params 'npci=0x2000 PCIRooutUID=1', sound works, Ethernet works.

Did not even disable things in Bios. I like the install as it simple - just Multibeast on top.

The thing that does not work is power management. Also I see my CPU as 1.77Ghz instead of expected 2.1GHz.

@nachopr -
I did my initial install without Nvidia card = just onboard VGA. What is your GPU? Did you try safe mode ( -x )?
Yes, just replace the kernel when preparing your USB stick

Please post your whole spec - it is easier to think knowing what HW you have.

Do you have any benchmark scores to share?

i am weighing building a system from the ground up, buying a dell workstation or a nmp. The lack of dual CPU on the nmp is pretty close to being a complete show stopper though.

I just couldn't get Mavericks installed on my machine. It either hangs on "PCI CONFIGURATION" or switches itself completely off an PCI CONFIGURATION depending on what boot options I used :(

That's easy - you just replace the file with cp. After u prepared the stick, just open the term and type:
cp mach_kernel /Volumes/MY_USB_STICK/

@amorph:

what is your config? It is difficult to suggest anything without any knowledge of your config...

@robert123:

My Geekbench score is 26300. I am slightly surprised as I expected it to be lower given that the other guys have 29000 with E5-2687 CPU. (My CPU is running on 2.1GHz)
I more wanted to have 2 CPUs that Geekbench numbers to be honest, so took the cheapest CPU that can give me what I wanted. I am planning to upgrade in future when E5-2687 or similar become less expensive
