The POSTed Safe issue, which happened on booting or restarting, occurred after the system was upgraded from Clover to Opencore. The system failed to load Opencore and instead displayed the AMI Red screen of doom: Press F1 for a restart. Sound familiar?
This issue (according to Google) can occur with mismatched memory DIMMs, however, Opencore provides another less obvious cause.
Thankfully the Dortania DisableRtcChecksum https://dortania.github.io/OpenCore-Post-Install/misc/rtc.html#finding-our-bad-rtc-region Quirk fixed the problem.
Without this fix the issue can be resolved one time by pressing F1 then Save + Exit (F10) then OK in the UEFI display. And every other time the system boots/restarts. This drove me crazy trying different DIMMs and DRAM frequency settings - nothing worked. Now I get to use this classy little motherboard with Opencore instead of tossing it into the E-waste.
