Asus Strixx GTX 960 / Dual monitor problem

I installed 10.11.6 on and old 775 Xeon system. My graphic card is a Asus Strixx GTX 960 with 4gb ram.

It has one DVI port, one HDMI port and three dp ports.

After some struggeling with multibeast I got the card running with NV webdrivers and a plain install of clover with nvda_drv=1.

Problem: The DVI port works nicely (1920*1080). When I plugin a second screen over a display port (2560*1440) while OSX is running I have a second monitor running just fine.

However, when both monitors are plugged in at start up I get a reboot while OSX is starting.

Additionally, when I start OSX with the dvi port disconnected and dp running I don't get any image of my Bios on the screen.

Any ideas what the problem might be or is anybody using the same card with full success?
