Asus ROG Strix Z370-G + i7-8700K build recommendation

Can I still use the Apple BCM94360CS2 (using an adapter to the PCIe slot, if that exists) to achieve native wifi and bluetooth support? Do you know that?

Yes, you can still use that but you would need a PCI-e adaptor instead of an M.2 adaptor.

Im contemplating a similar build @pastrychef but wasn't successful in getting any advice on the forum, do you foresee any issues with the following?

- 8700k cpu
- Gigabyte AORUS GA-Z370 AORUS Ultra Gaming WIFI-OP (optane module pre-installed which I plan to remove)
- XFX vega 56
- 32gb ram
- 850w psu
- fractal design r6 case

My only concern is the Wifi, I really want to use apply keyboard, trackpad etc and iMessage, handoff/continuity, and Im wondering whether a PCI based solution such as the kits found on OSXWifi is the way to go or to remove the above motherboards wifi adaptor and just use one of the Broadcom units as mentioned?

Your build should work fine.

Since this motherboard comes with Wi-Fi, it's my opinion, that you are best off removing the included Wi-Fi/Bluetooth card and replacing it with a BCM94360CS2 with M.2 adaptor. Personally, I would not pay for the OSXWifi kits. I feel they are priced way, way, way too high.

Sorry to be pedantic, but can I ask if either of the two solutions listed below will work out of the box? (which is what I'm going for)

1A). M.2 Adapter - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01KHRJVXW/?tag=tonymacx86com-20

&

1B) Broadcom wireless card - https://www.aliexpress.com/item/New...lgo_pvid=cb99d021-187d-4693-9531-a366f726d268

2. iMac wireless chip (I think?) - https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Bro...-g-n-Wireless-Card-with-BT4-0/2054147349.html

--> PCI adapter https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0762N2R2R/?tag=tonymacx86com-20

Am just wondering which of these two would give better performance and are both going to work 'out of the box' ?

The first two links are good if you want to use the M.2 slot on your motherboard. In my experience, using the motherboard M.2 slot was a tiny bit smoother in that my Bluetooth mouse and trackpad became responsive faster when my computer wakes from sleep.

The bottom two links seem to be BCM94360CD with PCI-e adaptors. This can give better Wi-Fi performance because they are 4 antenna solutions vs the 2 antennas on the BCM94360CS2. This results in about 1.3Gb/s vs 867Mb/s.

Both the BCM94360CS2 and the BCM94360CD are Apple parts and do not require any additional kexts and/or patches to work in macOS.

Personally, I use the 2 antenna BCM94360CS2 with M.2 adaptor on my motherboard.

Thanks a lot @pastrychef , very grateful for your response, time and input :)

!!Successful Build!! - But there's still one thing that I am curious about during start up...

Build:

Motherboard:
Asus ROG Strix Z370-G Gaming WiFi

CPU:
Intel Core i7-8700K

GPU:
Sapphire Pulse Radeon RX 580 8GB

Case:
Silverstone KL06

Monitor:
BenQ PD2700Q

Power Supply:
Corsair RM650x

CPU Cooler:
Noctua NH-D15S

RAM:
Ballistix Sport LT (2x8GB)

SSD:
2x Samsung EVO 970 NVMe M.2 500GB

WIFI: Apple BCM94360CS2 WIFI card from MacBook Air with M.2 adaptor (I tried to connect new antenna connectors to the wifi card like Pastrychef described in his post, but they did not stick to it, so I somehow managed to connect the original connectors with one of them really tensioned, but it seems to work fine.

Installation:

The installation went perfect!! I followed the guide and settings of Pastrychef (link below) with the new unibeast and multibeast and everything works perfect so far...
...Wifi Bluetooth and iMessage
...Graphics card
...Sound
...Sleep and wake

!!Only small (wouldn't even call it a) problem!!
The only small issue I have appears during the start up sequence. The bar with the apple logo runs to about 3/4, then stops for a few seconds, black screen with a sudden speed up of the fans and then the bar with the apple logo appears again and goes to the end. I ll activate the verbose again to see, if I can get more information about it during the start up process.

I ll try to upload a video of it, so you can get a better understanding of the problem. I ll also activate the verbose again to see, if I can get more information about it during the start up process.

Can I post a link to the video on google drive?

The same thing happens with every Hackintosh I've put together. I don't think it's a "problem" since the boot process completes without errors.

Ah - I see - and it is not a real problem, that's true! Thanks for all your help!!
