Comments/Summary

I've built this setup for gaming, but even more for music production, which is something I've always wanted to get into!
I wanted to be able to try DAW in both Windows and macOS without compromise, and this build allows me to do just that.
This is the latest Ryzen build with a stable macOS Big Sur 11.1 as a a secondary OS. And for those who are curious, Logic Pro X runs great!

I also modded the case with extra silent fans: 3x Be quiet! Silent Wings 3 PWM 140 for the case, and 3x Silent Wings 3 PWM 120 for the AIO cooler (instead of the included Pure Wings ones)

I'm sharing my build as I hope it will help others to get started! I hope you can enjoy it

It runs on OpenCore 0.6.4
BIOS-Version is 1401 | SMBIOS iMacPro1,1

Installation Notes

EFI partly created from Dortania OpenCore Guide: https://dortania.github.io/OpenCore-Install-Guide/ and using the fantastic EFI as a base from @CaseySJ's Ryzen 7 3700X Golden Build from which I learned a lot (available here: https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/...-ryzen-7-3700x-amd-r9-380x.304553/#EFI-CONFIG)

The EFI is running the latest 17h patches.

Don't forget to change platform info config.plist with your own data. More info here https://dortania.github.io/OpenCore-Install-Guide/AMD/zen.html#platforminfo

Here are my settings, on top of default BIOS Settings :
RAM at XMP Profile
Disable :
-Fast Boot
-Compatibility Support Module (CSM)
Enable :
Above 4G decoding

Possible i225-v Ethernet issues, and how to fix it :

During install, or after installation of Big Sur, you might face issues not having Internet access, despite having the Ethernet card being recognized. The problem is that, by default, the speed results to 2500 Mbps and that seems to not work. So what you need to do is change the configuration of the Ethernet card. You can do so during the installation by opening up the Terminal, and type the following command :

Code:
ifconfig en0 media 1000baseT mediaopt full-duplex

Should you face no issues during installation, but Big Sur has issues with your Ethernet card post install?
Change the following settings of your Ethernet adapter :

What Works
All internal hardware (except AX200 Wifi/BT module and TB (untested))
Internal audio also works, despite me using an external Audio interface.
USB peripherals work : I got a wireless Logitech Pro mouse and a wireless G915 TKL keyboard. I also got a USB microphone and cheap USB webcam, working without issues.

What Doesn't Work

- The integrated AX200 Wifi/Bluetooth module (kinda managed to make it work with itlwm but I left it out of the EFI as it's not fully supported)
- Thunderbolt (can't try it out as I have no TB device)

Nice build description. Welcome to the Forum!
Thank you ! And with great pleasure. I suffered enough on my own that this forum helped me find answers to my needs

Hi ! Pretty sure it should work considering how close the components are.
The only issue I foresee is the Ethernet. Might be another pcie address.

Otherwise it should work.

@allexiel nice writeup
which Thunderbolt 3 card are you putting on the board?

Hi !
I see you have a Samsung Nvme 980 PRO. It run's on a PCIe 4x slot, right ?
Does it run at 16GT/s link Speed and 4x Link Width ?

Mine is just running at 4x Link Width with no info on link speed.

A read speed test show speed just under 3GB/s and not the 5-6GB/s expected...
