Hi,

I have installed ML on an old Asus K53E laptop using UniBeast/MultiBeast and everything works like I wanted (sleep, audio, and wifi)... except I have to plug in a HDMI monitor in order to see the login screen. Then I unplug the HDMI monitor and the login screen goes back to the laptop screen. I've searched the forum and I can't find an answer to fix this issue.

Specs on K53E:
i5 2430M
Intel HD 3000

Thanks in advance.

JB

Post ioreg: http://www.tonymacx86.com/audio/58368-guide-how-make-copy-ioreg.html

Please provide complete details in your profile.

System: manufacturer/model
CPU: detailed CPU model + motherboard chipset
Graphics: all graphics devices + laptop internal screen resolution

For example, typical Ivy laptop:
System: ProBook 4540s
CPU: i5-3320m/HM76
Graphics: HD4000, 1366x768

Use CPU-Z on Windows to find CPU (Core iX-xxx) and motherboard chipset (HMxx). For a laptop, these details are important and affect critical installation procedures.

Here's my info (also put in my profile as other):

Asus K53E Laptop
i5-2430M / HM65 chipset
Intel HD 3000 Graphics (1366x768) w/ HDMI and VGA outputs
Atheros AR8151 & AR9285
Sound ALC269

copy of my system's ioreg is attached. Thanks.

It is probably an EDID issue. Try injecting your laptop panel's EDID. See: https://github.com/RehabMan/Laptop-DSDT-Patch

Apply: "Generic with EDID"

Make sure you read the comments carefully within the patch.

Okay... Will try to patch EDID and report back. Thanks.

JB

Update:

Hmm... Same issue. I patched the EDID (see attached) and still can't see the login screen unless I plug in the HDMI monitor. *sigh*
I changed the snb-platform-id, ig-platform-id, and EDID to match my system.

Funny thing is boot screen shows on the laptop screen and screen blanks out when it's time to show the login screen. I can't login to the laptop unless I plug in the HDMI monitor. Laptop screen comes back and I can login. Everything else is working except for this little quirk.
