Hi,

Here is my first post, I hope I give all information.

I'm trying to install macOS 10.15.5 on my fresh new Desktop Computer. All the config is set from my MacBook Pro 2016 laptop, also running on this macOS version.

My problem is next:
Whatever EFI or BIOS changes I can make, I always show this error during the start of the Catalina install:

AppleNVMe Assert failed ( 0 != data ) ReleaseIDNode file: /AppleInternal/BuildRoot/Library/Caches/com.apple.xbs/Sources/IONVMeFamily/IONVMeFamily-470.100.17/10NVMeController.cpp line: 5470

I attached to this post my lasts EFI test (the EFI Folder I putted on my installation Drive), but it'll not be representative and probably a non-sense config for my setup. I tried different configs but always stucked at this point.

Some things I'm seeing by some tests with my m.2 Samsung SSD (I read things about issues with them, but not sure it is the problem...):
- If I disable the Windows SSD (plug out of the motherboard), the last error I see (after the one mentioned above) is an "apfs_module_start: 1689" error (see screen capture SSDTest1)
- If I plug it again, the last error is now a "virtual IOReturn IONVMeController : CreateSubmissionQueue" (see screen capture SSDTest2)

My config:
- Asus ROG Strix Z390-e Gaming (BIOS Version 1502 - 02/21/2020)
- Intel Core i7 9700k
- Corsair 32Gb DDR4 3200Mhz
- SSD 970 Evo Plus 1To (contains my Windows Installation)
- SSD 970 Pro 512Go (hope one day it will contain my macOS installation)
- ASUS 5500 XT EVO 8Gb

My BIOS config is the default one with those changed (grabbed on some other threads I read):
- AI Overclock Tuner : XMP
- Intel Virtualization Technology : disabled
- VT-d : disabled
- Primary display : CPU Graphics (monitor plugged in directly on the motherboard. I tried to change this setting for my dedicated GPU and changed my monitor HDMI to the DGPU too)
- iGPU multi-monitor : disabled
- Sata mode selection : AHCI
- Fast boot : disabled
- Launch CSM : disabled
- OS Type : Other OS
(I can provide screenshots of all screens on demand)

Maybe I didn't give all info, sorry if it the case. Il'll update this post if you ask for more things.
Thanks for any help :)

Try the EFI I did for another user (don't connect to iCloud if it works without changing the serial numbers in config)

Hello Namok88, thanks for your answer.

I tried the ones you gave in your link but unfortunately, it didn't work:
- The first one (without optimisations) give me the same result as in my first post
- The second one (with changes on GPU — I did changes in my BIOS too) give me the same kind of error. See attached screenshot of verbose log.

I don't see a big difference (same errors, I attached the log)
Do you have any clue about the meaning of this NVMe error? I'm reading very different things on it.

Remove the EVO Plus (it's known for causing installation issues) and try to put your EVO Pro on the other M2 port.

I tried five things:
- Remote both drives, no more NVMe error, but stucked on the screen attached
- Remove only EVO Plus, still the same error like before
- Remove EVO Plus and move Pro on EVO place, still the same error like before
- Remove only Pro, still the same error like before
- Remove Pro and move EVO on Pro place, still the same error like before

I already did it but not update seems to be available:
- EVO Plus : version 2B2QEXM7
- Pro : 1B2QEXP7
(sorry for French screenshot)

@Namok88 I tried to reinstall the version you provided in linked topic with unplugged 970 EVO Plus and... it works!
I can reach the macOS GUI Install.

I'll keep you updated for next things.
