I bought a used Apple iSight model no. A1023 firewire 400 from circa 2003 (wow, ten years ago!) to serve as the camera and microphone for my hackintosh (10.8.2, i5 3570k, GA z77n wifi, HD 4000). The video comes in fine, but i can't get the audio to work. I have plugged this into my 2006 macbook pro running 10.6.8, and both audio and video work fine.

You can see from the pictures that it's not coming up under system audio, but that the camera is coming up in messages (but not audio).

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I have had a similar problem.

I have had a firewire 400 iSight since 2004. I used to use it with my Powerbook G4 up until I built my hack last year. The audio works for me consistently when I am chatting over AIM using the Messages app in ML. I have had trouble with it in other apps like playing Portal 2 coop.

I don't really have a good explanation for why mine works. Maybe it's a difference in our boards? Though I would assume they use the same firewire controller (I have the Gigabyte Z77N-UD5H, non-WIFI/BT).

Any changes in your status since your post?
