I updated my GA-Z170X-UD5 TH to latest BIOS without issue. For this (the Thunderbolt version) of board the latest BIOS is F22e, but it has the same release date (1/11/2018) with the same description (Update CPU Microcode) as the F22G for the non-thunderbolt board. You have to reset some BIOS items from default- which took me a few tries - since it's been a while. Wouldn't boot until I changed XHCI handoff to enable, which I missed on first attempt. Only been running a day but so far so good.

Just updated my Z170X Designare to F23G (from F21). Haven't found issues yet (Sierra 10.12.6).
There is no performance impact (according to Geekbench), so I'm not sure about meltdown/spectre.

I've had a system halt on F23G (delidded [email protected]) during stress test. Rolled back to F21 for now.
