Any way to hide certain icons on the desktop?

so after quite a long install and tweak proccess i have a fully working hackintosh, the only problem i have now is the ammount of HDD icons i have on my desktop.

I would like to keep the Macintosh HD icon but all the others i would like to get rid of. I have tried
chflags hidden "/Volumes/volume name here" but that dose not seem to work...

any help would be appreciated.

finder, then preferences to sidebar. Untick or tick (can't remember ) the relevant categories.

sorry i was a bit unclear, i want to hide all but one of the drives, i have an abundance of HD's i dont care to access all that often and only want my main Macintosh HD visible on the desktop.

If you use aliases, you can control which drives will appear on the desktop
