Any risk of using a Sandy bridge Proc in Gigabyte Z77 mobo

I am going to start attempt number 2 on my Hackintosh. Attempt 1 failed because of a bad motherboard. Of course I am 2nd guessing things that went wrong the first time and one thing I did was use my i7 2600k in a gigabyte ivy bridge motherboard. There is no reason this would be a bad thing right? I now the motherboard supports it
