Alternative to 9800gt silent cell?

Hello all!

I've ordered the rest of my build as per the buying guide but i'm struggling with the graphics card. The 9800GT silent is a bit out of my price range and according to my research I wont need the power for audio work.

I'm looking for something cheap, easy and silent that will run a couple of 24" monitors.

This is going to be used for audio production and some webdesign so i'm looking for the quietest parts possible.


At the moment it looks like the Geforce 8400 and 9500 series are the best option, are there any particular brand that are known to work? Will the 8400 be enough or is it too crap?

Here's some cards I found. I'm leaning towards the Palit at the moment since it's reported to work straight out of the box. Thoughts?

I would stay away from an 8xxx series card as it's 4 generations old and you never know when Apple could drop support.

Apple goes to Ati for the new Imac, maybe the best choise for the future is the 5xxx series ?

I'm looking to buy too, the 5670 fanless seems perfect for hcpc/music with only 61w tdp.

So wait and see. . .
