Well, my hackintosh was running great and I decided to
do a bit of housekeeping after noticing CarbonCopy app
complained about some missing links. I booted on another
10.6.2. partition and ran diskwarrior on the main 10.6.2
partition (ran check/fix files/permission and rebuild directory).
After doing that, I can't boot. Somehow the bootloader is messed
up with an very early error of "boot: error". The Mac OS doesn't
even have a chance to load.

Anybody came across this problem? I restored a previous
backup and still have the same boot loader error.
Does Diskwarrior mess up the Chameleon boot loader setup?!??
Thanks.

PS: Be careful about diskwarrior - you have been warned

Could be- if you can boot in using iBoot- install Chameleon RC4 through MultiBeast- it will fix the error. Either Carbon Copy Cloner missed some stuff, or DiskWarrior must have messed up the MBR of your drive. ;)

Indeed. Diskwarrior4.2 messed up the boot blocks rendering
the boot loader to fail.

Note that restoring using Carbon Copy Cloner doesn't work -
I guess it doesn't clone/restore boot blocks. I ran Multibeast
and reinstall Chameleon bootloader and it appeared to fix the
problem. Whew!! Thanks.

So people, don't use Diskwarrior on hackintosh as it might
mess up your boot blocks.

BTW, I did a search on the net and found that there is a patcher
for Diskwarrior so that it doesn't mess up the

Just an update regarding diskwarrior...

Diskwarrior 4.2 is the version compatible for Snow leopard and
unfortunately it looks like the available hackintosh patches are
only for version 4.1 or lower...

Here is a trick to use diskwarrior 4.2 - if you suspect the
boot disk need repair - first clone it with carbon copy (which
may report issues with it). Then run diskwarrior on the
disk image. Once the image is fixed, you can restore the
disk with the fixed image. I tried it and it worked.

Hi wizb98y,

I'm a bit of newbie to hackintosh and would love to use the latest diskwarrior 4.4 on my hackintosh os 10.8.2. I just want to verify with you that I need to use disk image clone for your method to work and that I can't just use bootable volume clone.

Thanks for your insight.

I have the same problem. Defragmented my OSX from an external drive with DISK WARRIOR. Now i cant boot anymore. Only in Windows. I have a Snow Leopard 10.6.2 with multibeast.

Where can i get the correct drivers ? How to burn a bootable Disk ? What should i do exactly?

...it was a friend of mine how set up my system...so please be kind to me as i am completly new here in this. THX!
