Acer 5742 Help!

Hi, I have a Acer 5742 and I need a guide how to install SL or some helpful tips. I have managed to install SL 10.6.6 but no sound, no WIFI, no cardreader, no webcam and so on... I know the Intel HD is unsupported at the moment...

Ok, got the sound working, (but the mic is always on, help?). Trackpad working, battery icon working, USB....

Is it possible to get wifi (broadcom)?
Cardreader?
Webcam?

The fan is speeding up all the time, help?
 
Use search. There is already a laptop using with similar cofig.

Pls refer that!

, but no trackpad and keyboard, the external mouse can only be moved, but not pressed.

Hi, i don't know if mine is exactly the same model you own, but can you tell me which kext you used for trackpad? Thanks in advance.

Plus, i can't boot from HD, only from iBoot. I've tried many ways, this is the dmesg.txt after booting with iBoot.

If i boot from HD, i have troubles like:
- Disk0s2 is unsupported
- hibernate mode use ForceWake=y, but it seems i find a solution, i tell you because you know what i did. i put hibernate mode from 3 to 0.
-Also see some FATD errors, this is where i'm know if i boot from hd, this is the last thing i see before it hang and the screen is black like it doesn't receive anything, not like a ms dos black styled windows with characters.

I was about to open a new topic, but since there's this one, i prefered to not open an other. maybe it could be helpful in the future.
 
Please use the search and search for ACER 5742. You will find a thread dealing with all the issues.

Does sleep work on your laptop? I can´t get it to work...
 
I am working on that. what have you tried?
 
Hey rohan, your laptop is not the same as 5742, the installation would not be the same... i think this topic is right, and you are messing it. I think we don't have to use search, but you have to be more specific.Don't take it personal rohan. It takes me three days to make it bootable, and have trackpad, keyboard, audio, usb. I miss only ethernet , wifi, and full graphics. I don't want to mess up because i try something that is potentially not correct( different pc). Full graphics today is impossible to achieve on this laptop because of the intel hd video card, i can't install logic 9, and for sure i can't isntall pro tools 9 too. I'm bulding it for a friend of mine, i' ve already had success on three other machine, but this is the first laptop i'm on. The trick with 5742(not g) was to install update combo 10.6.4 right after installation . Add specific kext and replace all the new 10.6.4 kext with the 10.6.3 version. Run multibeast If someone need more insight on how i managed to do it feel free to ask.

Hi (sorry for my bad English). I would like know how you solved the, trackpad, audio, usb and keyboard. Maybe we could take each part step by step? Then the rest (wifi, sleep and so on) Start with the trackpad... What are your full spec, orbazz? Hopefully we have the exact same laptop....I have managed to get partial acceleration on the Intel HD, but ony 1024x768.
