Spec
Acer 3900
I5-650
One hdd 640gb
Gig Ethernet intel
Added zotac Geforce 8400 gs 512gb

Picked hardware as this computer (model and CPU)is on hcl as desktop
Realised then that inboard graphics not supported
Bought above card as on graphics card list (says graphics enabler=yes 10.6.5)
Install as per boot multi beast guide
Install only possible with -x (otherwise black screen)
First attempts with 10.6.6 following guide
used easy beast with graphics enabled, no Ethernet added
Then on boot gets to apple and then goes black screen. Tried graphicsenabler=yes and no but no change

Then because of note against graphics card. Tried 10.6.5 install. Same problem, goes to apple and then black screen. Tried graphics enabler=yes. But still not working

Tried to get into system using - x (same problem)
But with iboot disk gets me into to os ok without black screen

My conclusion so far need to use 10.6.5 to get graphics to work, but only ok with boot

Please can I get some help on how to stabilise, so doesn't need iboot

I need some small steps which won't result in having to keep reinstalling, have done 20 times already

Thanks

In multibeat, did you install NVenabler? (A must to enable old cards like 8400)

graphicsenabler=yes is on be default in latest iboot.

When loading Snow Leopard, have you tested this?
graphicsenabler=no

Why install 10.6.5 when 10.6.6 is the latest?

In your BIOS is there an option to disable onboard graphics when using a PCIe graphics card? If there is, set it to disable onboard graphics.

Thanks so much. Tried graphics enabler=0 and it got me in. Then updated to 10.6.6 and added gig Ethernet driver and works ok

Now the final question is, how do I get it to boot with graphics enabler=no so that it boots without this extr intervention?

Feels like I am close, any answers really appreciated

In MultiBeast is a selection for 32-Bit Apple Boot Screen Graphics Enabler = No
Run MultiBeast and select system utilities and boot screen and hit continue to install. Reboot. (can use 64-bit boot screen instead if you want to try it)

Works, fantastic

Now I want to install windows 7 on same disk and make it dual boot. Also want to create an image of the entire disk for restore purposes. Are there any good guides to doing these two things?
