With Yosemite I switched to clover. Everything is so much better now, but I'm still getting this issue once in a while. I really can't pinpoint a specific task that triggers it. I use my computer normally and the mouse just stops moving. Then if there is a video that freezes too. The sound cuts out a few seconds after that. The only way to get out of it is to restart. Luckily with clover my restart times are only 20 seconds.

After the restart it I get a pop-up message that says "A graphics problem has been detected."

I click report and I get a long message.

Here are my clover config settings if that helps

Apologies for the necro.

I've seen this problem on my wife's 6,1 Mac Pro, so not purely hackintosh related. Extensive googling seemed to imply that it was a yosemite thing. Many have fixed it by replacing hardware, and this is what worked for us.

It is 100% Yosemite's fault. I never had the issue on Mavericks.

So this behavior is to be expected when running a GTX 770 on Yosemite?

I get random restarts every 3 - 4 days and I've been suspecting my EVGA GeForce GTX 770 is the culprit, but I haven't spent the time to figure out the exact problem because it isn't that bothersome. I'm going to pull the card tonight and run it on integrated graphics for a while to see if that solves it (not looking forward to the degraded performance in the meantime, but seems like the best way to isolate the problem). I have only ever had Yosemite OS so I have no experience with Mavericks + my hardware.

One minor difference on my machine is that I get an error message that says "your computer restarted because of a problem." But the kp report is always almost identical to the one TheCreed posted. Bummer if this is indeed a "normal" condition for this particular setup. However, calculating the price / performance ratio, it's easy to live with with a random restart or two per week until I pony up for a new graphics card.

Anyway, thank you TheCreed and peloazul for sharing your knowledge about this situation as it will likely save me time doing other troubleshooting.
