To the guys that created the HP Post install utility for the HP pro Books...a big thankyou
I was a jerk this morning...I reformatted the boot partition
OK< I made a big balls up by not paying attention.
I had booted my HP4530 from a Pendrive linux distro, and wanted to reformat another USB stick.
Fired up GPARTED in the unix distro...and deleted the first partition on the main HP startup volume I checked which device.but selected the wrong one ...utter muppet.
Tried all sorts to go back and get it working again.booting from the original installation utility, Tryign Disk Util, all sorts...then I saw the HP utility and though..hey...there was something in there i seem to remember...
And yes, Chamealon re install done in seconds and it all boots again.
So even a png time ..permanent newbie ..can still recover a **** up sometimes ..with tools created by truly clever people.
and yes..not taken the plunge to use the new boot loader....I don't see the need and don't want to risk screwing up (yet again) a working system
So thanks guys..who ever you are. I don't visit here often. I have a working system so avoid the temptation of changing anything ..and trying to upgrade.
