8-port SAS RAID 6 Controller

I need a SAS workstation with 8 drives in a RAID 6. I thought about the LSI MegaRAID SAS 9271-8i and found this project:

Does anybody already use this controller? Or do you have a suggestion for a better supported controller?

Have you looked at the High Point Technologies RocketRAID cards? They're natively supported in Mac OSX and are supposed to be pretty good (and cheaper than LSI): http://www.hptmac.com/product-list.php?category=22&type=13&bus_type=3

Well, I would like to use a Controller with flash memory. The HighPoint RocketRAID 4522 has at least 512MB, but it's ports are external only. The smaller HighPoints aren't "real" SAS RAID controllers (in my opinion). But thanks!

Please, if anybody is using a LSI or even Adaptec, please let me know!

I found another SAS Controller with 1GB of ecc memory and 8 internal ports:

There is a EFI Mac firmware and a driver on the homepage. Has anybody tried that one?

Did you ever buy and test the raid card of your dreams? I too am urgently looking for some first-hand reports, and am a bit wary of the cheaper HighPoint cards...

I got excited finding that driver too since i have a 9271, but on the driver's github page he states it doesn't support the chip in the 9271, SAS2208. waah, trying it tomorrow under esxi until i save enough for an external raid. google for 'LSI SAS 2208 RAID Controller Information and Listing' it has a list of the lsi cards that are *NOT* supported by that driver.

areca, atto and sonnet all make raid cards for macs that should work, i've been following areca posts here and they will be the base for my external.
