Dears,

I'm currently running my (musicproduction) Hackintosh with Mavericks 10.9.5. I would like to install Yosemite, but please let me introduce my components:

i7 4930k
Gigabyte X79 UP4 @Bios F4
Nvidia GTX 760 4GB
32 GB Ram
(a new) SSD for clean install
and several HDD's and other stuff for production

At first I would like to flash my Bios to the latest version F7 and adapt all parameters to the same as my currently system works. Thereafter the install of Yosemite along the installation guide.

My latest kernelflags for mavericks installation were:
-v -x npci=0x2000 cpus=1 -f (or with combination GraphicEnabler=No)

Do you think that will be work with Yosemite too? Any suggestions?

Thank you very much
Marco

Why not backup or clone your Mav partition and update to Yos? If it fails restore your backup...

Also do a forum search for Gigabyte X79 UP4 and see what others have done.

I've tried the new installation guide with Clover but I have some problems.

Where can I enter my specific kernel flags? I want to enter "-v -f npci=0x3000 cpus=1 PCIRootUID=0" for the installation.

With spacebar I only have the possibility to choose fixed kernel flags. Thats not what I want. :(

Thanks
Marco

Marco....I am not sure what software you use for production but I will reply as far as pro tools is concerned

10.10.5 seems nice and snappy in general.
however there are no working core audio drivers if you use avid interfaces.

this means that you cannot run itunes in the control room and use your avid interface. they have left this broke in their drivers since yosemite came out.

aside from that my experience has been pretty good in 10.10.5 with the x79 chipset.
