Good luck, you should be fine. I didn't re patch my DSDT before fitting the new screen and thought i had a problem as i was booting to a black screen. however booting to windows 10 was fine, then i realised what i had done. I guess it's better to patch DSDT first, then change the screen. let us know how you get on.

I have owned the HP Probook 4540S for at least 10 months now, and I am looking to do an upgrade to the display. It currently has the standard 1366 X 768 screen, but I do want to upgrade it to 1080P. I was wondering if there was a cheap solution to achieving so? Also, is there proper documentation to opening up the monitor by any chance? This "hackbook" is my daily driver, so I am essentially a noob when it comes to opening up this specific laptop, so a noobified version of documentation would be awesome!

Read post #1.

Documentation for laptop disassembly is provided by HP in the service manual (can be downloaded from HP.com).

Mine went fine. The links for the screen and LVDS Cable which are posted by bmwandy123 work fine i bought the screen and LVDS Cable from the links and work perfect. I recommend going with the Auo v4 i like the screen looks nice also . Be careful when seating the new LVDS cable as its a bit longer and its really easy not to seat it properly. Good Luck.

Screens are available from laptopscreen.com.

Search ebay for the cable.
