so i'm looking to buy
ideally would love dual boot
even if discrete card can't be used in Lion,
would like to use the 1gb discrete graphics in Win7 environment

seems like even disabling discrete graphics is problematic in Lion environment
more so than having just the internal HD3000

can i have and use both video cards, 1 for windows, the other for MAC ?

what to do?

You can have both. On the first boot you will have to disable the extra card, but after you make a DSDT you can boot with it. and then you can use it in windows.

blueking

2 questions...

can i have so it AUTOMATICALLY uses dedicated card upon booting to Win7
and automatically uses embedded HD3000 upon booting to Lion?

but fact still seems to remain,
those with the dedicated graphics (even if disabled and use HD3000) experience more graphical issues ??

we need to solve these issues :D

is there a tutorial on how to do dual boot?
keeping existing windows install that comes preloaded,
then adding Lion

No can do. You have to reinstall, as the hard drive comes in mbr, and you need guid.

confused

so you have to totally reformat drive? losing pre-installed windows
then reformat to GUID
then what?
install Lion, making 2 GUID partitions ?
and Then install Windows, after Lion onto the other GUID?

man, i'm a dummy

Yeah that's exactly right. I would personally want to reinstall anyways to get rid of all the hp crap.

wow, i was right? maybe i'm smarter than i think
so you can install Windows on GUID, but not MAC on MBR

i agree with the HP crap,
but then i don't have Win7 that came preloaded
i wish they would include an actual disk without all that HP bloatware

what to do?
