I want to attempt to build a hackintosh again, last time didn't go too well. Not build actually, but use the computer I just built....please tell me if the build will work without issue.

MSI Mini-ITX Z97I AC Motherboard
Intel Pentium G3450
2 x 4GB Kingston HyperX Savage RAM
Intel 535 Series 120GB SSD
Samsung Slim DVD/RW
Intel Dual-Band Wireless N Card

The processor isn't an i series, I know that....so the onboard video won't be compatible, so a GT740 card will be installed to fix that. Also the Intel card was inlcuded with the board, if it won't work is there one that will so I can keep it on board like it currently is?

Plan on running Mavericks. Any help would be appreciated, as once I get this one going I want to do another 2 of them.

Apple removed all support for the Haswell Celeron & Pentium processors in Mavericks. There is a way around this in Clover as you are able to apply a fake Ivybridge CPUID (CPU Identifier) to your processor that will allow OS X to work with an additional compatible GPU. I would think that it probably more cost effective just using an i3 processor - especially one with the HD4600 graphics - all these models are listed in the buyers guide (July 2015)

You can get more information from the following:

The additional steps to use the fake CPUID are covered here:

Intel wifi is not supported at all within OS X. It should be possible to change the on board Intel wifi card for a compatible model. There is lots of good info to be found in this network thread on the subject:

Thanks a lot for the information. I will look into an i3 instead of a gpu as it won't be for gaming. The main question after that is the motherboard, are there any issues with that particular one or should it be smooth sailing with it?

Also, I have another computer I'd like to do also, running a MSI H81I Mini-ITX. Obviously now I know the CPU with that issue too, but what about that motherboard for that one?

Intel core i3 haswell or better works fine for everyday computer use.

Nvidia Galaxy GT 610 or better Graphic card. ( $35 @ ebay.com)

IOGear Bluetooth USB dongle. ( $12 @ amazon ).

All of these components work Vanilla with OS-X Yosemite and Windows for Dual boot systems.

Don't use a 802.11ac WiFi card unless your home network and router can support it otherwise it may cause problems with your home WiFi router. Or you can modify your WiFi card setting to use only 802.11-n

This Apple broadcom Wifi-AC card with adapter is half mini pcie. Works Vanilla with OS-X.
This is a good inexpensive option for your mobo. ( $27 @ ebay.com )

We generally find that the ASUS and Gigabyte boards are still more hack friendly - especially for those with less experience. There can be a big difference between "can be done" and "easy to be done" - even for more seasoned enthusiasts. Stork has done a great guide using a Gigabyte H97 Mini-ITX board using the standard Intel Hd4600 graphics. He has loaded the spec up a bit, but the basic installation is the same plus it shows how easy it is to upgrade should you wish.

This is incorrect and is bad advice for any modern core i3, i5 or i7 processor. You will not find this being recommended by any mod or regular poster on hardware under 3 years old.

I suggest that you read the Multibeast features - it is also available with every MultiBeast download from this site.

Thanks again for the information. I do understand that Gigabyte seems to be the easiest, but I can't stand them....I'm an MSI (Asus #2) guy all the way and already have new boards so don't want to buy more.

I will now be buying i3's instead of GPU's, and 2 compatible wireless cards.

After that it shouldn't be a whole lot of problem should it? I can make my Unibeast USB using my old Core Duo iMac running Snow Leopard...correct?
