Hi all,

I need to change the resolution from 1080P to 2560x1440 but I don't know how to do it.

My system:
Intel i3 3.6GHz Haswell with HD4600 graphics
Gigabyte H87n-wifi motherboard
8gb ram and 320GB HDD
iiyama PL2779Q 2560x1440 monitor connected via HDMI.

Can someone please help me get the resolution from 1080p to native?

All the best,

Fred

i am looking too buy a 2560x1440 screen , that will be connected to the HD4600

but is there anyone who knows how this works ?

HDMI connection
DISPLAYPORT connection

DUAL DVI adaptor connected to DISPLAYPORT .

waht connection does 2560*1440 ?

My previous build was using a hd5570 on Mountain lion 10.8.2 and my iiyama PL2779Q was doing 2560x1440 on DVI, no fuss!

Now I updated to haswell hd4600 and Mavericks and i'm stuck at 1080p. I will try displayport tough...

So we need a Displayport cable or a graphics card to use 1440p?

Just the displayport cable. Just plug the cable and it works, no settings required, at least for me.

It is very strange why just only the cable is needed. I used to output 2560x1440 via my macbook pro using DVI but on the hackintosh, the DVI don't seem to be able to output that resolution.

Save a lot of time by checking the motherboard specs, i.e.,
GA-Z87X-UD5H
Integrated Graphics Processor:

  1. 1 x DVI-I port, supporting a maximum resolution of 1920x1200

I'm on the GZ-Z87X-UD5h with 10.9.1.

With the DVI, couldn't even select any resolution above 1920x1080. Plugged in the DIsplayport and system instantly went to 2560x1440 without any manual setting. Amazing.

Any ideas on why?

Thanks, I will try the HDMI port one day, when I'm free.
