I'm also keen on how this build goes. I'm after almost the exact same thing (I have a firewire interface though).

I'm also hoping to use my current Hackintosh as a slave machine for running resource heavy virtual instruments and plug-ins.

Long overdue update. Sorry for not keeping in touch. I’m still in the planning stages. Work has been crazy. I work at Sweetwater in the guitar department. I’m still going to build a DAW, but most likely it won’t happen until after December. Now that UAD offers USB C interfaces I’m not going to worry about thunderbolt. Keeping up w/experimental builds and new tech is very time consuming and I feel like I have a perpetual case of analysis paralysis. I’ll be back soon fellas. Happy holidays!!!!
