2 SSD - use one for upgrade testing?

I have an m.2 currently with Sierra on it but I'm wondering how to add another ssd, whether drive based or m.2 based, and add high sierra to that drive for testing. Not sure how to dual boot with a hackintosh.

I use an older. smaller SSD for testing. No problem. Just make sure you get your boot parameters correct. It's easy to boot off the wrong drive but reach the correct desktop.

i.e. - The BIOS boots to the M2 but when you see Clover you choose the SSD...
For true testing you need to boot from the same drive you choose in clover.
