After months of reading and research, i decided to take on the challenge and make my MacPro mod..
here are my specs:
asrock z68 extreme 4 mobo
sandy bridge i5 2500k processor
corsair vengance 8gig
zotac gtx 670 ampd!
seasonic 620 watt psu
hyper 212 processor cooler
2 scythe fans at the front (120mm slim)
and 2 80mm fans at the back
4 hard drives for multi boot of OS
I ordered the mountain mods MOBO tray, ordered another spare Hard drive caddy from another g5 case which i mountain to the top tray of the CD rack with the use of 3 aluminium bars and an angle bar.
i also fabricated a fan tray for my 2 front fans.. used aluminium angle bars and rivets.. this was also mounted to the top of the cd rack
followed the guide here using the I/0 board which was still intact..
tried my best to cable manage the case. this took the longest time. A PAIN.
i had a hard time fitting the psu at the bottom! my mobo tray was too low.. will modify this on my next MOD. the psu though doesnt hit the MOBO.. so it should be fine.
i used NZXT cabes for the 24pin connector, video card connectors, fan connectors and power supply connections to the motherboard.
used stock gigabyte sata cables for my hard drives... twirled them so they would not look scattered.
the front fans here were my old fans.. (not the scythe slim fans YET) i have yet to take a picture of my scythe fans..
Im trying to find a way to attach the clear panel of the G5 case as my front door... it fits the other way around... trying to find a way to lock it in place.. until i find a way, ill be using the stainless door.
so far so good. ill be using this as my office computer.
