Apple just releases the latest 10.8.5 update. I just install and it works fine except USB 3.0. Needs to reinstall those kexts:

- AppleHDA
- AppleSmartBatteryManager
- AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement: updated from 196.0 to 214.0, you can use old kext until new patched kext is available. Not required if you use Clover bootloader.

You should remove GenericUSBXHCI before installing 10.8.5 because it's not compatible with 10.8.5 yet.
USB 3.0 port does not work of course, but Mouse on USB 2.0 does not work either. Flash drive, Wifi Dongle and iPhone works.

I've updated the ProBook Installer few hours ago and now it supports 10.8.5. Regarding GenericUSBXHCI.kext, I can't tell you anything, since I don't have the hardware. Just download version 6.1.4 and use it as usual.

Edit: it seems you're not the only one with this problem.

My console is flooded with all of this:
Code:

I have tried reinstalling FakeSMC but none works.

I don't see anything like that in my system.log. Clover specific problem?

No errors, but I have only one functional USB port (right/front) on my HP 4440s. The rest 3 USB ports are not doing anything. The built in web cam is working (hooked to internal USB hub). Everything else appears to be working...

No luck with GenericUSBXHCI_1.2.5.tar.gz, it seems to be loaded, but any attempt to connect device will lockup all USB devices. I have to ssh to it remotely and issue shutdown command to recover from it. The one port is still working though as long as u do not mess with other ports...

I can installed 10.8.5 and gave karnel panic.

-x-f-v tried any of the system does not turn on

HELP !

I have to ask this here from time to time: Does GenericUSBXHCI.kext work *stably* for USB 3.0 on OSX 10.8.4? Can it be trusted to not randomly eject external drives, possibly permanently corrupting (all) data in the process?

I feel like I've been waiting forever for USB 3.0 on my ProBook, not to mention the 2 desktop Hackintoshes I'm using.

Would love to finally be able to trust it for the added speed in transfers it provides!

First of all let me preface this by saying I don't have USB3 on my ProBook.

But from what I read, it may depend on the particular devices you are connecting, and to some extent the chipset you have (or perhaps some combination). Keep in mind that the 4x40s and 4x30s have different chipsets (4x30s is NEC/renasas, where 4x40s is Intel).

That means that the only way to answer the question for your combination of laptop+devices is to test it yourself and come to your own conclusions.
