After six months of running windows I decided to give the osX install another go and it worked flawlessly with my 780ti and yosemite. nothing special done, just a regular install and then updated my drivers. easy and super fast!

I cannot get audio working on my Z97X-UD5H and have tried the steps listed. any suggestions on what else I can try?

Ok, wow ... npci=0x2000 worked a charm and I was able to boot into the system along with nv_disable=1 - at this point the graphics were at a low resolution. I upgraded the drivers and the chameleon file as directed here...
