@metacollin, It's ~2 years later but your guide here let me upgrade a non-working Sierra install to a working High Sierra. X10DAi with TB add-in card (UAD Apollo works great when TB is set to Legacy in BIOS), 64 GB 2400 MHz DDR4 RAM. Only 32 GB utilized from using a single 2643 v4 CPU. RX 480 in...
@dude05 he was busy when I contacted him (nearly a month ago.. time flies) but offered to send the patches (I didn't take him up on it). He did get it to work with 10.12. See this post.
He'll hopefully post a guide when he finds time. In the meantime, you can use the msr199.kext workaround @catswift posted and get close to optimal performance it seems.
I'm consistently getting the same scores with Geekbench 3 and 4 that I posted before. For GPU performance see this post (a...
Did some benchmarks with Unigine Valley and Heaven, and with Luxmark 3.1. No experience with that so just tried a bunch of different settings. Any other settings or benchmarks that could be interesting?
On another note, OpenGL Extensions Viewer quits unexpectedly on open now. Only changes are...
I'm now using the FakeSMC approach (from this post). Also had to add AMDBaffinGraphicsAccelerator with 0x67DF1002 (like in AMDRadeonX4100.kext) to IOKitPersonalities to get acceleration. As expected it only works with the 10.12.1 betas. 10.12 reaches what I can only guess is the login screen...
I have hardware acceleration and Metal working now in 10.12.1b1 using a secondary GPU. For reference, the cards are an XFX RX 480 8 GB Custom Tuned OC (RX480M8BFA6) (PCI slot 2) and an XFX HD5450 1 GB (HD545XZCH2) (slot 0) on a Supermicro X10DAi. I have a single HDMI connection from each going...
@catswift, just a heads up I contacted metacollin about power management. He solved it for 10.12 using multiple kernel patches unique to the generation of CPU's. Should see a guide in the near distant future. :)
@catswift, I have AppleALC working now. I haven't checked it extensively, since I'm using the UAD Apollo for audio, but I had headphone output at least. Just built the latest master from the AppleALC repo, which includes @metacollin's patch. Copied .kext over to EFI partition's ../11.12 and...
Same here. Including a few screenshots from my last Sierra test install where I guess I checked something in Clover to add a system preferences pane, where you have log options. A bit short on time so haven't tried them yet.
Thanks I'll try that other kext and BIOS changes ASAP. Not worried...
(I only tried with 11.12.1 and the 4001, but) followed your picture guide except for injecting Intel, and lost the display. Should clarify that before, the screen went black. This time, it actually seemed to drop the output. I thought that could be fixed by changing VideoPorts to 1, but it...
With just an XFX RX480 8 GB and a Supermicro X10-DAi (C612, similar to X99. No IGPU), I'm able to boot into 10.12 and 10.12.1 Beta usingGraphicsEnabler=No. Without it, it boots some way past DSMOS, before losing the display. On El Capitan I didn't have to add the bootflag, but got poor...
@catswift, great stuff. With Sierra, I had issues but can now get in with just the base BIOS and EFI settings from before and your additions, with a few small changes. Last digit of FakeCPUId to 1 (reflects stepping Geekbench reports for the CPU's I'm using), and using OsxAptioFix2Drv-64 (like...
Same here, much thanks to you. :) Following your exact instructions, apart from adding info about the memory in Clover configurator, El Capitan 10.11.6 installed just fine. Maybe it's needed since system report only lists 8 slots, so only registers 32 of the 64 GB. I'll try with it and see. If...
Brilliant. :) After many attempts following this and @metacollins posts, I installed Windows 10 last night to check hardware too. It's been running since and seems ok. Geekbench scores are ~1,7k single and ~22k multi-core. That's with 'only' a pair of 8-core v4 ES's and in 32-bit tryout mode on...
Following
Here's a complete overview of the BIOS, after disabling
- CPU advanced power management
- CPU Intel VT
- IIO Intel VT-d
- Thunderbolt add-on card
- System ACPI params
- Hot-plug for SATA
- sSATA
Changing
- PCI OPROM from Legacy to EFI
I think that's all of it.
Notes
BIOS is...
I'm working with hardware fairly similar to @metacollin and @Panamamax. A SuperMicro X10DAi and a couple of 2608Lv4's that I'll upgrade later. I first tried a generic Clover guide which didn't work, then followed @metacollin's advice in this thread, including copying the DSDT and SSDT, thinking...
Just bought two ASUS Z10PE-D16/4L's. I'll try both as Hackintoshes, with two Xeon E5-2697 v4's and 64 GB of 2400 MHz RAM. Anyone have any insight on things to look out for with this or D16/WS (if it translates)?
They'd mostly be used as audio workstations. Not sure which graphics card to go...
