So posting relevant screenshots in reply to "post something meaningful for diagnosis" gets me SHADOWBANNED with ZERO explanation from ANYONE? I've relied on tonymac for the last several years for help with 3 hack builds and never experienced this elitist hoop jumping.Treat an ass like an ass...
Now I can't access tonymac from any device connected to my network. If I've committed some sin, please advise. Otherwise, please unblock and reply to the screenshots i posted per your own instructions to provide more information.
Looks like my network has been blocked from accessing tonymac after posting my screenshots. Is this my reply? Anyone? If I've committed some tonymac sin would someone enlighten me please?
Yes. The add'l option to begin the install booting from the new SSD is there. It fails. Hopefully the screenshots I posted will show someone smarter than me WHY it fails.
Since I'm not receiving any other replies, I'll work forward from yours. Do you have any suggestions on another viable way to get a good install? we're trying every troubleshoot we can find, but nothing tried is yielding an install, so maybe my install file is corrupt? I'm out of alternatives.
Apple OS download only yielded 19mb file, so I used forum instructions for compiling an image by running 19mb installer, then stopping the install before machine restarted. Then used command prompts to compile full High Sierra image of 5.24gb. Unibeast took the image without a problem.
Build:
Asus Prime B250-plus
i5 6600K @ 3.5ghz
MSI GeForce GTX970
16 gb Ram
2TB Micron SSD
This was a working build for Sierra for several months, but when I swapped my 250gb SSD for a Micro 2TB SSD I figured it was time to upgrade to High Sierra. Now after finally downloading (what I believe...
FWIW, this same thing happened to me. When I read this post, I remembered I'd been using my DVD drive for data transfer (!) so I jiggled the cables and gave it the stinkeye, and voila! My hack found my mac and I'm gold. Thanks!
My hack is exhibiting SBBOD at every keyboard/mouse click after a series of incidents not worth relating (hopefully). Data is backed up, and I'm doing a clean install of 10.8.4 to my boot drive, an OWC 240GB SSD. 10.8.4 was already running successfully pre-problems.
I created a USB Unibeast...
Thanks for the response.
I found the problem, sort of.
Ahem...my connector cable to my ssd startup drive was loose. I discovered this when i disconnected the other drives and got a "disk boot failure. Insert system disk, press enter".
This made no sense since my ssd is my startup/apps only...
Last night I couldn't get my Apple login/password to take at the App store ("an unknown error has occurred"), so I got on discussions.apple.com and found a possible fix in their forums under the heading "An unknown error has occurred App Store":
"OK been talking to Apple and this seems to be...
OK. In order:
Installed Chimera onto SSD.
Restarted, with default HHD as startup disk.
F12 booted into "boot Menu", == Select a Boot First device == but the menu is unresponsive: couldn't select any drive or even move the cursor using arrows, which worked just moments ago. Can't even escape...
Noob here, first time on forums. Bought a used working hack for a home-video editing machine. Runs great love it.
OSX 10.8.2 (installed using multibeast)
GA-EX58-UD
2.83 Intel Core i7
GeForce 9800 GTX + 512
24 gb ram
I want to put OS & apps on an SSD (2.5 OWC 240 mercury electra 3g)...
