Awesome, thanks.
By the way, do people use the nvidia web drivers for the GT 640 (in Sierra or El Capitan)?
I do not use them (I'm running El Capitan) and things seem to work fine, but I'm wondering if it's better or advised to install them.
Thanks!
I have this problem all the time when I tried to boot.
Weird enough, rebooting and trying multiple times I manage to go past that screen.
Maybe I need to reboot 10 times, but the system eventually goes past this error. Really annoying...
It seems like a lot of people have this error, and I...
Unfortunately, I wasn't able to fix it.
However, I discover that this error is not deterministic. Rebooting multiple times eventually makes the system go past this.
So I'm now using my computer, but if I reboot, I'm very likely to end up in the same screen a few times before managing to start...
"Funny" enough I was just able to get to:
4) Boot passes all that, and I have a seemingly perfectly working El Capitan installation that works great... that is, until I have to reboot it. Then I'll be spending an hour trying to reboot it and hoping it will get me back to work...
And I didn't...
Hi
I'm having the same issues.
Boot is completely unpredictable.
My system is Dell XPS 8500 with nvidia GT 640 with 1 GB.
I managed to install El Capitan in a new drive.
After much rebooting, I managed to get it running with flags: dart=0 -v npci=0x3000 kext-dev-mode=1
Then I had the system...
Something similar is happening to me...
I used the USB install drive to install El Capitan on my main drive. Installation worked fine, but when trying to boot from the USB install drive and selecting the newly installed El Capitan drive, booting fails with "Error loading kernel cache".
The...
Did you manage to get to the El Capitan install screen?
I'm having the same issues, but after having installed El Capitan on my main drive.
I get that message when trying to boot from USB Clover and selecting the newly installed El Capitan SSD.
What is weird that I'm not able to go back to the...
Hello,
Thanks for the help. The slide=0 doesn't seem to be helping at the moment.
What is really weird is that I'm not even able to go back to the El Capitan installer from the Clover USB install drive anymore. I also get stuck in the "error loading kernel cache boot failed" message.
I've...
Hello,
I'm also having the same issue (the "error loading kernel cache (0x9) boot failed" on boot from USB Clover after successful install of 10.11.5).
My XPS 8500 has a Nvidia gt 640.
Any ideas on how to fix this?
I'm completely stuck now...
Thanks!
Had the same issues (unable to reboot after installing 10.9.2 update with the combo update).
nloeff fix worked great! (thanks!)
To sum up what I did:
Boot into the Unibeast installer (need to specify -x flag, or otherwise impossible to boot from USB drive!!!)
Renamed /Volumes/<YOUR VOLUME...
So I finally solved my issues.
The problem was that MultiBeast includes and old version of Chimera, that apparently is not compatible with Mac OSX 10.8.3.
I booted into my hackintosh using the GraphicsEnabler=no and the safe mode flag -x and then installed the new version of Chimera that I...
So apparently my XPS 8500 is using a Dell 0YJPT1 motherboard (I didn't even know Dell manufactured its own motherboards...)
Do I need a custom DSDT for this board? I haven't found any in the tonymacx86 DSDT list...
Is anyone else using this board?
Has anybody installed 10.8.3 from scratch...
Hi All
I'm having issues with my XPS8500 too.
I'm trying to install 10.8.3 from scratch. I managed to install Mountain Lion in an hard drive (had to boot with -x and GraphicsEnabler=no from the USB installer).
Then I installed MultiBeast with EasyBeast and the network driver mentioned in the...
Hi!
This forum is being very helpful so far, thanks for the help!
I've been a mac user for many years, but on a laptop mainly.
I currently have an XPS 8500 with a nvidia GT640 in my lab running Ubuntu 12.04 that I need to keep for my research, but I would also like to run Mountain Lion on...
