Also curious to know if anyone has found a working .kext that works for the 201 based chips? I've flashed mine to match the various vendor id's (verified with the flash tool), but in Ubuntu and OSX the device shows up as a generic Renesas USB device.
I have tried playing the sounds in System preferences and trying to play a song in iTunes. It looks as though it's playing, just not getting any sound output.
So I figured I'd take another crack at getting the ALC888 sound working on my Supermicro X8DAH+-F. I bought a front audio panel and luckily the cable stretches just long enough to plug into the connector on the board. Following your instructions I've created a DSDT with the HDEF (as one...
Onboard ethernet will work with the appleigb.kext. Also interesting to note the driver provides basic functionality for add-in cards as well (I have 10 gigabit ports now) :D. Only missing part of all this is a working DSDT/SSDT for sleep, wake, speedstep and working audio.
I noticed in your other posts that the front panel audio connector being plugged in is a requirement. Does this potentially change the pin configuration if it is not plugged in?
Re: Optimized AppleHDA for Realtek ALC 888 on Lion
I believe most USB audio dongles work without drivers. I have one that came along with my Logitech headset that simply worked as a line out/headphone and mic combination. Worked well for gaming on the Hackintosh. They can normally be had for...
Re: Optimized AppleHDA for Realtek ALC 888 on Lion
There should be an ALC8xx.kext which is part of the enabler as well as a codec specific one (HDAEnabler888.kext I believe). The only one that should be in there should be AppleHDA.kext. Rebuild your permissions and restart. If you still...
Not sure if it makes any differences in the DSDT but the board has dual 5520 Chipsets. Attached is a copy of my DSDT. It also has a basic built in video card (Matrox) that is tied in with the IPMI. I've gone through and changed the jumpers to disable it. Will see if that makes any difference.
Here is a copy of IOReg saved using the DSDTSE app.
Replacing the 10.7.3 AppleHDA.kext with the beta one you posted in another thread provides me with the inputs and the volume slider, but there is no sound coming through with the kext modification. Without the kext there is no slider and no...
I'm working on trying to get the audio working on this board as I recently acquired one to replace two dead X8DTN's. Will provide an update if I get it working and an new thread on the build.
So I followed these instructions which were a breeze to follow and I now see a sound device in the System Report but do not have any options to select for sound output. Am I missing anything from this to get sound working?
I'm using a Supermicro X8DAH+ motherboard
According to the Supermicro site it should be an ALC888 chipset. The only problem is when I go to pull the DSDT I'm not seeing an HDEF or AZAL section to modify. Is sound working on your setup using kexts or Voodoo?
I fired up the system and loaded Lion onto it (didn't need to change any of the bios settings to have it install and detect the CPU, RAM, etc). Audio and LAN are currently not working. I think I will have to work on modifying my DSDT to get sound working properly and the onboard Intel 82756...
Oh man, I thought I was going to be daring and revive my dual quad setup and I came across this today! I'm hoping to get a fully functional system going (the toughest part will be getting a proper DSDT edited).

sweet setup, a quick question regarding the BT functionality. Did you go with a mpcie bt card or the actual module where you have to splice some wires and run it directly to the usb header? Your original post made it sound like you bought a mcpie card to drop into an adapter and then into the...
That's because most of the USB dongles aren't normally BCM or AR chips on the inside and the cards run off the PCI-E bus and not USB. Next best option is to find a "Mac compatible" usb wifi card and use proprietary drivers.
I'm still currently on 10.6.8 but I have experienced something similiar with my setup which uses a Gigabyte 5870. I have 2 Dell 2209WA's hooked up via DVI and a U2410 via DP. On boot I lose the DP connection until I put the system to sleep then bring it back up (this addresses the no display...
