Anyway to run windows programs on mac?

First of all, yes, you will need to buy a copy of Windows, and I believe you actually need Windows Pro (have never tried to use Windows Home in a VM). I would suggest Windows 7 Pro, as Windows 8 to me is garbage. You need to understand a few terms: VM = Virtual Machine VM Supervisor =...

    Slow shutdown/restart

I've had this happen to me during builds when my graphics card wasn't detected properly. You might want to take a look to see if the correct video driver was loaded when you upgraded.

    GA-z77x-UD5H HD4000 Win7+ML setup issues -- Please Help!

It seems that the problem is due to installing Win7 and ML as EFI. None of the guides I read warned me not to install Win7 via UEFI boot. So I'm stuck using F12 in the BIOS to select the boot disk. If I select the EFI partition it goes into Win7 and if I select the SSD itself it goes into...

ML 10.8.2 Hangs on Apple Logo startup screen

Press the spacebar when you see the bootloader on the screen. That will open a field that you can type the commands into.

Drilling a kensington lock hole on a Fractal R4

I've been mulling over that dilemma as I work on new desktop's for my two college kids. I also chose the Fractal R4 and the lack of any security lockdown points was one of my three disappointments with this case (the other two were lack of HDD activity indicator and motherboard speaker, both of...

ML 10.8.2 Hangs on Apple Logo startup screen

Did you try using the boot options -v PCIRootUID=0 GraphicsEnabler=No -v will show you what's happening as the system starts up. Presumably the last thing to launch is what's causing your system to hang. PCIRootUID=0 and GraphicsEnabler=No are common start-up problem workarounds

    GA-Z77-DS3H Temp Issue

I would consider that too high for a i5-3570K. What's your normal CPU temperature at idle? What CPU cooler are you using? How did you apply the thermal paste? As the CPU temperature increases does the fan speeds increase? What kind of system enclosure do you have and how many and where...

Anyway to run windows programs on mac?

There are two ways of running Windows programs on OSX86: WINE is an open-source Windows compatibility layer that can be used to run some Windows programs on POSIX operating systems (which includes OSX86 versions). It is not 100% reliable, and it is not the fastest performance, because it has...

    GA-z77x-UD5H HD4000 Win7+ML setup issues -- Please Help!

Wow, I got graphics working again under OSX. I removed the device code from my plist and installed EasyBeast, restarted, and boom, graphics problem fixed. Last time I did that it royally hosed my build. But maybe that was just random Now on to try and fix the dual boot problem...

    GA-z77x-UD5H HD4000 Win7+ML setup issues -- Please Help!

I give up. I don't understand why everything was working before I installed Chameleon and now video isn't working. I'm going to shotgun a few things that, based on my prior experience, will probably not work and are likely to hose my OSX install. If that doesn't fix I'm going to start...

    GA-z77x-UD5H HD4000 Win7+ML setup issues -- Please Help!

I never personally installed Grub. I don't know if EasyBCD installed Grub though. No, none of the Nvidia cards ever touched this build. See above. I'm going to try putting the HD4000 device code into my plist. Thanks for the suggestions. Once I get graphics working I'll do an image...

    GA-z77x-UD5H HD4000 Win7+ML setup issues -- Please Help!

I set the Graphics Mode in org.chameleon.Boot.plist to 1920x1080x32 and now my resolution is fine. But I still have the flicker problem in Safari Top Sites. Any suggestions?

I connected another hard drive and enabled Time Machine. Hopefully this will allow me to recover from any further damage I do working on these problems.

    GA-z77x-UD5H HD4000 Win7+ML setup issues -- Please Help!

Thanks for the quick reply! I tried GraphicsEnabler=No and it makes no difference. BTW, boot and shutdown time is much slower since I installed Chameleon, in addition to the video resolution problem. It seems to me that OSX is probing for the video card/monitor and not finding it, so...

    GA-z77x-UD5H HD4000 Win7+ML setup issues -- Please Help!

I am running into some issues with my build. I had Win7 and ML running fine, though I had to manually choose which OS I booted from the BIOS boot menu. I tried to install Chameleon to choose between the two on normal boots and things have kind of gone off the tracks. Now when I start the PC...

    My Hackpro has insomnia

Have been going through the sleep troubleshooting thread but so far no luck. It's not hardware-related as I now have the Windows boot functional and it has no problems going into sleep mode.

    Disappearing search box?

Hmmm. Very odd. When using this site from my old Windows PC using Firefox with Adblock+ and NoScript installed, the search box appears every time. Also, if I refresh the page in Safari the search box will sometimes appear briefly before the page refreshes. My guess is that some banner ad...

How Much Did You Pay For Your Probook?

Thanks, I'll look into it. I've had both my Probooks mostly apart to replace hard disks, keyboards, screens and optical drives, but I wasn't aware you could just swap an i7 into an i5 model. Ours are i3 models and it would be nice to get some extra horsepower.
