[Guide] ASUS ZenBook Pro Duo 15 OLED UX582 OpenCore

Thank you. Hope that would be the case. I did see someone with Razer 17" laptop being able to adjust the OLED brightness on GitHub. I can open a discussion back on GitHub although I'm pretty doubtful if that is authentic.

[Guide] ASUS ZenBook Pro Duo 15 OLED UX582 OpenCore

@gvkt @sqlsec @atrslb I found one trick for the Dock in dual display. Uncheck the option called "Displays have separate Spaces." in System Preferences > Mission Control. Then you can have the Dock put on the ScreenPad and when you click an app on the Dock, it will actually pop up in your main...

@atrslb It looks like after updating to macOS Ventura, I no longer have the correct scale for my UX582 ScreenPad. macOS Monoterey: macOS Ventura:

@atrslb If I understand correctly, @Qonfused on GitHub for his project ASUS-ZenBook-Duo-14-UX481-Hackintosh, has solved the backlight control for OLED main screen and the ScreenPad. Would you like to check this with me? Thanks. Also, not sure if he said HDMI port could be patched.

@gvkt It looks like VoodooI2C just updated to version 2.7.1. Could you make changes that implemented our ScreenPad in your GitHub branch? Thank you. Updated: It looks like the newest VoodooI2C (version 2.7.1) had implemented the pull changes made by @gvkt.

@Middleman Thanks! I'll check this out. It's been a while since I worked on this project laptop last time (I eventually compromised to using Windows). I think last time @gvkt and I found out it's hard or not possible to use ACPI or GPIO mode with the trackpad due to hardware constraint.

@gvkt, Are you running Monterey 12.1? I don't have the volume hash mismatch problem. What SSD are you using? Also, for bluetooth and USB, did you check BlueToolFixup.kext, and the XHCI-unsupported.kext I have...

[Guide] ASUS ZenBook Pro Duo 15 OLED UX582 OpenCore

@HiKiKo The grub commands are found not necessary to get macOS work. I had similar issue after the first few boots after changing the BIOS with modGRUBShell.efi, but the screen should lit up eventually. If not, it might be you miss-typed some settings in the shell. Try to make a few more boots...

Yes, sorry I got busy these days with other things and forget some of your requests. For me, everything is working the same on both Monterey and Big Sur. The main changes on the OpenCore EFI were the bluetooth kext, Lilu kext, and OpenCore efi itself. If you are afraid to break you setup, you...

@gvkt Could you also make a Github issue regarding the power management on the UX582 repo? Also, Lunar.app v5.2.2 seems has fixed the brightness control issue with FN key.

@gvkt My first thought would be checking the files inside /System/Library/Extensions/IOPlatformPluginFamily.kext/Contents/PlugIns/X86PlatformPlugin.kext/Contents/Resources I discovered this kext back in the Intel Sandy Bridge days (I made a post regarding this on 2012/9/17 on another forum). If...

[Guide] ASUS ZenBook Pro Duo 15 OLED UX582 OpenCore

@gvkt and @Ingener001, speaking of the battery life, there is one key component we forgot to work on - the brightness control of both of the dual monitors. Currently, the brightness is max out in macOS. We use software to "dim" the dual monitors; however, at least for the ScreenPad being a LCD...

Yes, you're welcome to discuss here. We need more people to fix this laptop. Unfortunately, that's a know issue with VoodooI2C. If you know how to code with the kext, please help contribute. It's mentioned in VoodooI2C Github issue Duel monitor #96. @gvkt or @sqlsec should have more experiences...

[Guide] ASUS ZenBook Pro Duo 15 OLED UX582 OpenCore

It seems to be working fine with my Logitech G700S dongle and D-Link DWA-181 AC-1300 dongle. Have you tried reseting the NVRAM on OpenCore login screen? (You'll also need to add the OpenCore boot option back in BIOS after the NVRAM reset.) Could you upload your new USB kext?

For anyone who is following this thread, I have tested the thunderbolt on UX582 with Intel X540 10G Ethernet Card. It seems to be work OOB with the current OpenCore EFI. Hotplug also works well on the laptop.

I also tested the following pins and found out 0x5F, 0x97, and 0x117 are the gpio pin number that work (but in polling mode) with the SSDT patch.

    VoodooI2C Help and Support

@gvkt Would it be possible to change this setting via BIOS menu options? I discovered these hidden BIOS menu options in my UX582 before: - Force unlock on all GPIO pads - Kernel Debug Serial Port - Touch Pad Interrupt Mode - Touch Panel Interrupt Mode It's in section 1.4 Setup the Hidden BIOS...
