For what it's worth, the PCI slot in my Z97 Gigabyte mobo works without any tweaks or edits and it's currently housing a Firewire card as well. Don't know about Z170, though.
It's unlikely that big changes will happen at the golden master stage. But to clarify, I'm mainly referring to older cards, not support for upcoming ones like the Nvidia 10x0 series. Just to know which models - if any - have been removed.

Sound not working after update here, GA-P35-DS3P. I get the message that HDAEnabler1.kext is improperly installed and can't be used. Tried reinstalling it using Multibeast with and without the DSDT option but still the same.
