    When booting from your Uni-beast flashdrive, at the slash screen (aka the bootloader with the apple logo) press the down arrow key and select Verbose Mode. Take a picture of the Kernel Panic and upload it here.

    Clearly I had to find out for myself. Booted in Verbose mode got something like "P-state Stepper Error 18 at Step 2 in context 2 on CPU" replaced applecpupower.kext with one from 10.7.3 speedstep works like a charm. I get all p-states too on 3,1 Mac pro. Geekbench scores are 9278 with stock...

    Not sure if this helps at all but speedstep and sleep works flawlessly in 10.7.5.

    I'm sure you've tried this before but what if you plug it in a different USB port. You could probably boot into the External E-Drive and repair it from the 10.7.5 install.

    Well, I mean sure. Good idea. Fixed. You have any ideas? I have tried 12,2 iMac and 3,1 Mac Pro. I heard a lot people with success on Sandy Bridge with 12,1 iMac but I am unsure since they all have Z67 and p67 mobos.
