Someone else has just posted a fix which solves the Wake / Screensaver / Full Screen issues - it just doesn't fix the resolution change issue.

Many thanks - I've installed this and it's working great now! I get a scrambled screen around the login box when waking from sleep / screen saver - but it works and doesn't freeze anymore!!!
Only thing not working now is screen resolution changes...
If you do a search you'll find a couple of other posts about this.
I had this problem when I did an upgrade from Lion - formatted my HDD and reinstalled (including re-installed the installer USB) and this problem went away.
Glad this is also working for others with the same setup! I do have the same issues with the 550ti but VLC works perfectly in fullscreen. I also tried to play the original Trine, which worked as well as in Lion except when I came to exit the game - it did freeze the display and I had to...
Just thought I'd quickly write the steps I had to take to get this all working with my setup (details of HW at the bottom of this post).
First - do a clean install - make a backup of your files. I tried doing an upgrade and lost most of the icons on the screen.
1/ Create USB stick image...
I'm now working perfectly OK again :)
I did two things at the same time so not sure which one (if not both) fixed my problem:
1/ Re-created my USB stick with Unibeast
2/ Re-partitioned my HDD and reinstalled a fresh copy of ML
Instantly worked without a problem and I can now see all my...
I'm still having the same issues and will do a backup and a clean install of ML as this seems to work.
FYI this is what I've tried so far without any improvement in my missing icons:
Tried with the on-board HD4000 graphics - no change
Re-run Fix Permissions - no change
Re-installed over...
I know the random avatars are quite confusing!!! Must make up a custom one and upload when I have time :) Difficult as I spend half my time trying to find my applications without icons!
Worth also noting that I get this in finder too... see another screen shot attached!
OK so it must be a problem with the HW or a bug... Later on (probably tomorrow now) - I'll uninstall my 550ti and try with the HD4000 built-in graphics which should now be supported anyway!
Someone else is reporting this issue on a clean install so I don't think this is down to the upgrade process - must be a HW incompatibility - might reboot onto the HD4000 and see if I still have the issue.
My 550ti is Gigabyte - other system details on my profile!
One thing worth asking, are you fresh installs or upgrades from Lion? I'm in the latter camp. I'm wondering if it's due to the upgrade process - if there are no fixes within a month, I'll re-install and let you all know if a fresh...
:) This is the only problem and everything else works OK - it's not causing me a problem, just a minor inconvenience which I'm naively hoping will be fixed at some point in the next month or so... If it doesn't, I'll try a clean install and see if that fixes the issue.
They're not greyed out - just missing the icon (transparent) (see attached screenshot).
All apps work fine (as you can see from the screenshot you have the notification numbers on the AppStore icon).
I did an upgrade without any problems at all (Z77-D3H i5 3750k)
Create a new USB stick using UniBeast - reboot onto your USB stick and go through the process as if you were installing a clean system.
When complete, you'll need to boot up your HDD via USB and then run MultiBeast on your new...
