Thank you for the advice. The reason I selected these specs as they are based on Apple's iMac which used a i5 2500, socket 1155 and shipped with Snow Leopard 10.6.6, you can see full specs over at everymac.com. This is the "End-of-Line" for Snow Leopard so I don't think anyone can do much better...
Greetings GuitarGuy and welcome to the Hackintosh experienced ;)
A couple of years ago I was in the same boat your were in, very excited about building my very first Hackintosh. I'm sure you'll do well and you're in good company here with fellow hackintosh'ers.

One other question about Multibeast options/selections, will I need to check "FakeSMC" for the Snow Leopard build, and/or anything to use USB 3.0 from the mobo?
[Success!] Multibeast Help Needed for GA-Z68XP-UD3
Could someone please help me check the correct boxes for the multibeast installation for SL 10.6.8 on Gigabyte GA-Z68XP-UD3 MoBo running i5 2500K processor with a Radeon 6850 1GB GPU and Samsung 240GB SSD please.
Thanks
Thank you for explaining this. I was considering getting one or two of these for my systems and forgot the simple fact they were in fact going into a Hackintosh system. This should help many, who are like me, a great deal.
Greetings fellow Hackintoshers,
I am in the process of planning and purchasing parts for a Sandy Bridge, Snow Leopard, 10.6.8 specific build. The reason I am going this route is I need to run some necessary legacy applications which require Rosetta and will not run on later versions of Mac OS...
Thanks for the kind comments, I could not have done this build without everyone's help here, you guys rock!
BTW, does tonymacx86 icon have a twin brother perhaps...?
Just updated from ML 10.8.2 on a Gigabyte UD5H mobo, lost audio on reboot after installing the 10.8.3 via App store, ran MutiBeast again for the Realtek ALC898 sound driver. After that audio was up and running again, so far so good.
Thanks for the info guys, giving me some ideas to play around with.
I bought all my components, went with the GA-Z77X-UD5H mobo with the i5 3570k CPU and threw in a 500GB WD VelociRaptor 10k just for good measure for the basic install which will allow me to play around with the initial SSD Raid...
Greetings Hackintoshers, I just got all my funds in order to build my Custom Hackintosh and have a couple of questions before I pull the trigger…
SSD Raid 0 config:
I understand the Gigabyte GA-Z77-DS3H motherboard does not support two SSD drives in Raid 0 configuration… but the Gigabyte...

Thank you for the info/advice zaptoons. Re: OCZ Agility SSDs, yeah the more I read reviews and user experiences, the more I no likey. I'll definitely have to check out Samsung's offerings.
Anyone else have some good SSDs they would like to recommend in 120-to-240GB flavors? (hmm... that...
z68 vs. z77
Thanks for the advice hmttony, yes currently I don't see a huge benefit for Ivy Bridge CPUs but I don't want to lock myself out of upgrading either. The z77 should run both Sandy and Ivy Bridge CPUs so I chose it for future proofing my build a little, the board is only $120 so it's...
