Hi,
I am having exactly the same problem and neither of the above solutions helped me :-(. Sound crackles when I turn up the volume, on low volume sound is ok.
This problem came up after updating to Yosemite, with Lion/Mountain Lion I had no problem.
Any ideas?
Thanks, at least it shows me that there doesn't seem to be an easy way of updating. If I have to go through this process I will probably wait until 10.10 arrives...
How to update from 10.7.4 to 10.9.2 (Gigabyte-GA-Z77X-D3H)
Hi everyone,
I have a running 10.7.4 Lion system on this build:
Gigabyte-GA-Z77X-D3H
XFX Radeon HD 6870 1GB
i7 3770K 3.5GHz
2x Samsung SSDs (1x OSX, 1x Win8)
Now I feel like I should start thinking about upgrading to 10.9.2...
Thanks to everyone for all your help!
I eventually went for the Z77 with a XFX 6870 and i7 3770K. I changed the Crucial SSDs to SAMSUNG SSDs (one 256 for OSX and a 128 for Win7) and the system is running great with Lion 10.7.4 (except USB3 speed but I think that's not supported atm in Lion)...
Thanks.
2. Tried that loads of times. If I do that, the screen just stays black and the machine seems to hang. Only a hardware reset of the BIOS via CLEAR MOS worked.
3. Ok, read AUTO in a different thread. Will this enable usb3 speed on the ports or will they be USB2?
Will try if I get back...
Hi,
just build a setup including the Gigabyte GA-Z77-DS3H main board in a Carbide 500R case.
A few issues:
1. Case fans: how do I connect those? There seem to be no suitable sockets on the main board?
2. BIOS: I can hardly get into the BIOS - Chimera starts up so quickly I cannot press any...
Thanks Jester969,
I am not sure whether I want Sandy or Ivy as I don't really see a difference except the slightly better speed increase (5-10% on average, I read somewhere). If I knew there are no other drawbacks and the system is just as stable as with the Z68, I would go for the Z77 - but...
Noone?
Looks like I am gonna stick with the Z68, as informazion seems a little vague. I found posts from people reporting problems with Z77 and that bothers me a little...
I am looking at nearly exaxtly the same system. Not sure if IB would give us a real benef but I dont think so.
CPU cooler: isnt the one in the box good enough? Is it too loud? Anyone tried that?
Open CL is a graphics standard used by Macs, just like DirectX for PCs.
I am also looking at getting the best graphics card available at the moment. From my research I think it is the 6870 - brand does not really matter. I am currently looking at getting XFX...
Re: Thoughts on this system? Z68X / XFX6870 / Crucial SSD / 16GB
I am still a little unsure whether I should go with Sandy or give Ivy a go.
What would be my actual advantages when I would go for

and
Intel-i7-3770K...
Re: Thoughts on this system? Z68X / XFX6870 / Crucial SSD / 16GB
Another question: I want to add an Apple Wireless Keyboard and the Apple Trackpad. Do I need to look for some special USB Bluetooth Adapter or does any work?
Re: Thoughts on this system? Z68X / XFX6870 / Crucial SSD / 16GB
@mate94: OK, found another one:

This looks good. I hope the 3 included fans are enough?
Re: Thoughts on this system? Z68X / XFX6870 / Crucial SSD / 16GB
Ok, thanks for your comments.
@Mate94: I can only find this one at Amazon:

Is that the one you mean? I will check some...
Hello everyone,
after the disappointing WWDC with regards to iMacs and MacPros I am now looking into Hackintoshs and found this great website.
I am looking for a stable system running Lion and Mountain Lion sometime soon in parallel to Windows 7 on a separate SSD. I would like to have a good...
